Marketing and Training Coordinator
Holly Li is marketing professional with over ten years of working experience in Canada and the US. During her primary role as the Manager of Sales and Marketing at NAI Interactive Ltd., Holly has taken the lead on the organization of Global Chinese Financial Forum event series and has acquired a wealth of knowledge in mining, real-estate, securities and insurance. These event series successfully invited leading figures including Nobel Price winners to deliver speeches, and extended the reach from Vancouver and Toronto to the bustling Chinese financial hubs of Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Holly holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida, and a double Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering and Business Administration. Her background in science and engineering is well-reflected in her work style today in terms of logical, progressive thinking.
Sandy Huang’s talent for solving business challenges makes her an asset to any operation. A product of her extensive business knowledge, willingness to think outside the box, and ability to adapt quickly to new situations, Ms. Huang’s diverse skill set enables her to provide expert guidance for businesses in all stages of life.
Ms. Huang is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Pinpoint Tactics Business Consulting, based in Vancouver, BC. The consultancy’s client base ranges from start-up businesses, to companies on a steep growth tangent, to mature enterprises. Whether the project involves improving company identity through business evaluation, streamlining business processes, or minimizing the disruptive effects of necessary organizational changes, Pinpoint Tactics always provides practical, efficient solutions.
Along with Sky Capital Group, Ms. Huang and her team offer business consulting services to meet the needs of investors both pre- and post-acquisition. She is fluent in English and Mandarin, and has working knowledge of Cantonese.
Beyond Pinpoint Tactics, Ms. Huang is the Board Chair of Burnaby Counselling Group. In addition, She is regularly interviewed by newspapers and publications such as Globe and Mail, National Post and Business in Vancouver. Ms. Huang was also a business writer for Small Business BC, Women’s Enterprise Centre, and the Vancouver Observer as its Success: Why and How Column contributor.
David Childs is the lateral thinker of the team – always open for new ideas and opportunities. His talent for bringing intangible qualities to life is the cornerstone of Pinpoint Tactics’ distinctive style of strategic branding. Channeling right-brain creativity through a systematic left-brain approach, David guides the Pinpoint Tactics team as they identify, internalize, and articulate each client’s true value to develop a strategic brand that is positioned to establish a strong presence in the North American marketplace.
As Pinpoint Tactics’ Brand Strategist, David is responsible for developing and managing brands for clients. He is also the current owner of Living Blueprint, a strategic branding and communication agency. By merging aesthetics with a systematic approach based on strong business acumen, David has guided companies including Pacific Coastal Airlines, Syntaris Power Corp., and Lift Bar and Grill through the process of discovering their core value and articulating it in a way that forges an emotional attachment with their target audience.
David has a history of creative projects, which have aided in his ability when he directs company brands. He appeared on The Big Breakfast with Dawn Chubai in 2000. He was the recipient of an “Excellence in New Media and Internet Technology” award from the Computer Master Institute of New Media and Technology. His animated short film, “The Home”, was screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival (2003), Tribeca Film Festival in New York City (2004), and ANIME in Brussels, Belgium (2004). Living abroad in the ‘90s, David was the lead guitar player with Poetic Ammo, which broke Malaysian sales records and earned accolades at the Malaysian Music Industry Awards (A.I.M.).
Richard Zhang is an indispensable asset to the team as he brings an in-depth industry and consulting experience to Pinpoint Tactics’ clients. His background enables him to see the client’s unique challenges from their perspective, but also understand these challenges from a consulting lens. This unique insight allows him to devise the most appropriate solutions for any client he works with.
Mr. Zhang has over 10 year of work experience in one of the leading state-owned corporations in China, responsible for marketing, customer service, supply chain management, organizational change, business management and operations.
Prior to joining Pinpoint Tactics, he was the Business Director (China) for Accenture, the largest consulting firm in the world. In this role, he gained invaluable consulting experience in the areas of business model and operational model development, e-commerce, marketing, customer services and supply chain management. In one of his projects, he led the team to develop a new business model for a state-owned enterprise, establish a new operating company under this model, and develop the marketing strategy. This new business division has already shown immense success, with the trading revenue reached over RMB 1 Billion (CAD$ 170 million) in just two months.
Mr. Zhang holds a MBA degree from Shanghai JiaoTong University, majoring in supply chain management.
Corrine Lin honed her skills in the areas of business strategy and marketing through working for multi-national corporations for over a decade.
She was the Brand Development Director (North Asia) for Unilever, responsible for repositioning a well-known global brand in China, Japan and Korea. She developed the marketing strategies for these regions, re-structured the business models and developed the portfolio strategy so the brand could successfully penetrate these new markets. Ms. Lin also played a critical role in the M&A task force to preserve the integrity of the brand development in the process.
Prior to her role with Unilever, Ms. Lin had worked for various Fortune 500 corporations, including PepsiCo, Pfizer, and L’Oreal. As a result, Corrine accumulated in-depth knowledge in global brand management and market development. She had gained company-wide recognition for her dedication to the roles she played and the achievements followed. She was the recipient of the Chairman Award by PepsiCo. This award is one of the highest honors for PepsiCo globally.
Ms. Lin holds an MBA degree from the University of British Columbia, majoring in Strategy and Marketing. She also acted as an independent senior consultant to help local businesses solidifying their strategy and marketing plans during her stay in North America.
With her business experience in both the Chinese and North American markets, Ms. Lin is a key member of Pinpoint Tactics. Her multi-cultural background enables her to bridge the gap between the clients and the team as she diagnoses the challenges the clients face and identify effective solutions.
Stephen Davis – President
In his 25+ years of business, Mr. Stephen Davis has gained his experience by running his own companies and by dealing with inventors and start-up projects; including working with patents, product development and in creating and launching creative marketing strategies. In 1991, he took his first company public and he continues to work with various public and private companies – on many levels.
Stephen’s passion to engage and implement new ideas has taken him into a number of directions, which include the energy, medical and consumer sectors. There, he has participated in financing new ideas; along with being instrumental in raising capital, creating marketing strategies, putting together the right teams, and in engaging the right distribution partners. In 2003 he co-invented a technology for sweetening sour gas and oil. He participates – on a volunteer basis – at the University of Victoria’s Entrepreneurship Program and has sat on several boards – for both private and public companies.
Most recently Mr. Davis co-founded Valentus Clinics Inc., who specialize in optimizing brain function. Stephen also co-founded a charitable organization with the purpose of providing financial assistance to those who are in need of healthcare services not covered by the Canadian Universal Health Care Plan.
Mr. Davis has recently become the Managing Director of VDC and is assuming a leadership role in the areas of deal generation and marketing strategies for VDC clients.
Stephen is married with a blended family – 4 children and 12 grandchildren. He lives on a small hobby farm on Vancouver Island and has a passion for fishing.
Praveen Varshney is a 1987 University of BC (“UBC”) Commerce graduate who subsequently obtained his C.A. designation at KPMG. He is a principal of Vancouver-based Varshney Capital Corp., a family-owned venture capital, merchant banking & corporate advisory services firm. Varshney Capital invests in a wide variety of industries such as resource, real estate, technology & alternative energy. Current projects include Mountain Province Diamonds, the largest diamond mine under development globally with DeBeers as partner; Canada Zinc Metals, a significant zinc deposit being developed in BC; and Mogo.ca, Canada’s largest online unsecured consumer lending company.
Mr. Varshney is an active angel investor, investing in many companies over the years including being the first investor in Coastal.com thatgot bought in 2014 for $430M. Other current projects include RentMoola.com, ChangeHeroes.com and PlasticBank.org.
He is a long time member and past President of the Vancouver chapter of The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and a founding director of the Vancouver chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE). Mr. Varshney is also on the Sauder School of Business Faculty Advisory Board, a former Director of The Vancouver Board of Trade, and a past recipient of Business in Vancouver’s 40 Under 40 Awards. He is also a director of the Varshney Family Charitable Foundation, a SVP Vancouver Partner, a Director of OneProsper.org and on the advisory board of Room to Read – Canada.
Married since 1992 and with 2 young kids, Mr. Varshney is very actively involved with his family & community including coaching his kids’ baseball & softball teams. He also makes daily exercise a priority through a variety of activities like working out with a personal trainer 3 to 4 times a week, hockey & yoga. Other interests include travel & reading.
